For Rice County’s English-speaking residents, communicating with one of the 21 dispatchers at the Rice-Steele 911 Center is not something to worry about. Dial 9-1-1 and most know help will soon be on the way. For non-English-speakers, it may not always be so easy. But thanks to a state contract with Language Line Solutions, the same can be said for people of all languages.

Emergency Alert System

This system, Everbridge, allows Rice & Steele 911 Center to notify citizens of emergent situations that may affect area residents and allows citizens to be informed of time sensitive incidents as they arise. Rice and Steele Counties have offered Everbridge since 2012. This upgrade will allow weather alerts to be disseminated directly from National Weather Service, allows citizens to set a window of time for notifications, and to subscribe to which notifications they would like to receive.
